Friday

I knew that degree in chemistry would come in handy one day...

Dizzee + Bizzle = Dizzle (MDMA)

And you wonder why Dizzee is making a dance album and Bizzle is doing one too? (I'm making a presumption on the latter but I'm guessing Bizzle will follow suit because he's very good at doing that.)

Thursday

Dizzee Rascal for Prime Minister, yeah

When the world has just witnessed the most significant and transformative political event of recent history, and a well-informed reaction is needed, it seems Andrew Marr just won't do. Instead, you need someone who really knows what they are talking about: Dizzee Rascal.

Full story and brand new exclusive Dizzee video here.

Monday

Slightly offensive quotes of the week #1

These are actually from last week but let's not worry about small details like that.

Wiley on George Lamb's 6Music show (my gran forces me to listen to it when I go round to clip her toenails, I promise) after being asked if Dragon's Den presenter Evan Davis is the only human being on planet earth who could look a hammerhead shark in both eyes simulataneously: "No... there's one more you don't know of: Logan Sama. He can see me and you without even looking at me and you."

A chap called Maggoty Lamb on the OMM blog talking about NME's article questioning whether Dizzee can recover from the steaming turd that is "Dance Wiv Me": "Writer Barry Nicolson doesn't even have the courage to take responsibility for this utterly bogus show of phoney concern himself, but calls upon such "experts" as Hattie Collins of "UK hip-hop bible" (and there was I thinking it was just a glossy fanzine given away free in jeans shops) RWD to make his non-points for him."

One of the more charismatic and articulate guys who posts on Grimeforum.com talking about DJ Mujava's "Township Funk": "I can imagine them Shoreditch cats in some drug-induced zombie trance while listening to this."

Dizzee proves that self-obsession is one of the few things he hasn't lost

What is your favourite word?
'Me.'

(Half-inched from an interview in The Guardian)

Saturday

My life in words, basically

Hands up who likes the Ting Tings

This week's Fader column - in which Skepta goes against everything grime stands for, then pays homage to Giggs and Dizzee does a cover of the Ting Tings - is now up.

Story of the week (completely coincidentally written by me):

ITV cannae fathom Scottish

Thursday

Won't let any mentally vacant z-list celeb ting get by me

Dizzee Rascal went on a "hot date" with Chanelle from Big Brother last night. "Big look for the scene", as they say. When Wiley wants to get some hype and interest he calls out Ghetto's name, when Dizzee wants to get some hype he takes an ex-Big Brother contestant to celebrity nosh palace Nobu. Apparently they have the same management and "Flex" is out soon so I guess Mr Rascal can forget the fact he already has a girlfriend for a few weeks.

Lethal Bizzle is slowly growing on me I think - maybe like an unwanted parasite, but he is definitely growing on me. Notice the drum kit thrown amongst the rubble - does that mean no more indie collaborations? I can't see Logan playing this but, hey, at least it's not grindie. He should definitely do some more work with J Sweet (who produced this beat).

Good song, good idea, pretty poor execution.

Monday

To my massive corporate events crew: get paper

Here's the Dizzee and Sugarhill Gang video at last. Notice how he seems in a bit of a daze at the start, probably counting all the money in his head that he's no doubt getting for this show and thinking about how he'll spend it. Then he checks back on himself and realises people are watching so he does a few finger points. Big.

And as a bonus, here's a video of Dizzee at some Nike event pulling up in a Lambo and then sprinting (all the way to the bank, presumably).

Wednesday

Gotta stay away from the mess and the madness / Gotta stay away from the stress and the badness

D Double E MCing next to a Christmas tree with a bottle of Ribena and some Fruitella.

Listening to the Dizzee set from Sunday, it's clear how much everyone else in the scene has caught up. D Double, Footsie and Esco all sounded just as good. Dizzee will have to improve if Maths and English is going to be better than Wiley's Second Phase.

One more thing: if you're wondering where Durrty Goodz is, read this article.
