Simple lyrics, simple flows/Got the ravers on their toes
This is "Funky Anthem", the new single by Crazy Cousinz featuring MC Versatile, the guy who appeared on DJ NG's "Tell Me". I remember I (jokingly) described "Bongo Jam" by Crazy Cousinz as "Tell Me" multiplied by "Pow" to the power of T2, which the producers then began quoting in interviews. Well, I could not be more sincere when I say that "Funky Anthem" is the sum of "Heartless Theme" and "Champagne Dance" divided by the reciprocal of 21 Seconds, raised to the power of 138 Trek.

tune of the year. simple.
the inherent problem with letting grime producers make 4x4 beats is that after about 3 tunes a lot of them will just get lazy and resort to samples and presets. at least not having a 4/4 kick makes them work a bit harder. this is such a drastic amount worse than the kyla rmx or jazmine sullivan rmx that i'm finding it hard to believe even they think its any good.
This "Funky" could well be the UK's answer to Reggaeton. This is not a good thing.

'funky flex' is the worst lil silva tune. it sounds like he made it in 3 mins.
the people who dont like this are the people who go and read simon reynolds's blog to find out what he has to say about funky and then they start quoting his one-liners on forums. they dont like it cos it doesnt fit in with what simon reynolds's description of funky is.
that's why i love this song.

"Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes," though, that's a tune. Much better than this in terms of what this tune's trying to do.

reynolds doesnt like funky anyway -he might have had the right idea tbh, a lot of it is shit. dont think i could stomach a whole funky night cos of how much cheese theyd play.
