The best of 2008

OK, I've put together my end of year round-up for thefader.com. It features pictures, videos, lots of wise words from Wiley, a polar bear and a Welsh woman who is addicted to calling the police. Go and check it out here. I think you'll find it's pretty definitive. Let me know if I have left anything out.

Wiley's reaction to people accusing him of making electro was funny. I can't remember the exact quote but at one point he told someone on RWD that he'd made more grime than their mum and dad

the best wiley moment was a few years back, just before second phaze came out, when in the same sentence he admitted that "treddin was pretty dry, even i can admit that", and then claimed to be "the king of albums".

the set on grimetapes from xmas day a few years back when he's wrecked off his tits is amazing as well. he spends the first 10 minutes saying "suck ya mumma" over some drumless devil mix, and says that "its xmas day, everybody at home smiling suck your mum". it just gets better from there.

Another Wiley gem was when he responded to somebody along the lines of "your not my parents suck your mum!" when he thought somebody was telling him what to do.

For a man close approaching 30, Wiley seems to be telling people to suck their mothers with alarming regularity. Quite a strange and stupid man whose rise in Grime has seemingly occured largely by accident.

Literally the only reasons to read the RWD forum are to watch Wiley attempt to sabotage any and all chances he has of making money in the mainstream music industy (publically writing off his own album, stating that it's all for the money, bitterly sending for his management & record label every five minutes) and seeing what other cracked out stream-of-consciousness rants and ramblings he's come out with lately

there's also the fact that on radio he's always been one of the best and most consistently entertaining mc's in the scene. him, d double, goodz, trim are all levels above when they want to be.

Surely the best moment of 08 has got to be Goodz sendin for Wiley last night. It's made even better by Wiley then going on RWD and dropping Titch's name a few times for good measure.

Still waiting for the Eski Boy and Eski Girl clothing lines, what will come out of Wiley's talent hunt project (12 artists, 12 major label contracts), The Umbrella vol.1 and a lot more.
