Crazy Titch

I seriously considered purchasing Crazy Times today. I actually think I'm gonna buy it. I don't think I can stop myself. Crazy Titch is hilarious and there's a pretty good CD with the DVD. From listening to soundclips of the CD, with it's cornucopia of hip hop instrumentals, it's obvious that Titch is aiming to gain recognition outside the minute grime scene. One thing that was evident at cargo on Thursday was the difference in crowd reaction for hip hop and grime. Lots of people were having fun to the Grime tracks, but I noticed on many occassions the lack of movement in the crowd when the music changed from a well known US hip hop record to a grime record. I'm guessing this is the reason why producers like wonder and target are now going along the "G-Hop" route.

If grime was as big as US hip hop, Titch would probably have the UK equivalent of the 3rd one in Destiny's child starring in his videos and be able to afford about 6 or 7 gold teeth. Instead, he lives with his mum and throws pieces of raw meat to his dog in the garden. Probably for the best, really.

The Mitchell Brothers are the grime equivalent of The Vengaboys. Their name alone is beyond laughable. Unsuprising considering Mike Skinner is heavily involved.

I know someone who knows someone who went to school with Durrty Goods. FACT.

Rolling Deeper

I went to watch the Roll Deep Film by Lucia Helenka in Phonica today. It's basically lots of outtakes from 'Practice Hours' but it was well worth the 30 minutes of my time to hear the previews of the new Roll Deep album, which soundtrack the film.

The Film isn't worthy of much comment, although it's very amusing in parts. One moment of note is when discarda is overheard on the phone promising his mum that he'll be home soon.

The album, however evoked lots of thoughts. Few of them positive, so I'll keep them to myself for now. It appears Roll Deep have attempted to make a UK version of The College Dropout but not very successfully from what I heard today.
