I appeal to kids who ride bikes / Choose to download, but quick to buy knives

This is my night I'm doing next week at Scala. The people in the picture are actually on the beach. I just realised that. Look closely and you can see the sand and the sea in the background. Anyway, Logan will be doing a grime classics set, so expect to hear stuff like "Tingz in Boots" and all that kind of shit. I also want some XTC stuff - I need to remember to ask him to play some. Jammer is going to be performing loads of new songs. I want to get Statik to play Heartless Crew and stuff like that. If you want to get on the cheap list (free before 10.30, a fiver after) then email me and I'll put you on.

Here is a picture of Mr Wong's mum's shop, as promised.

This is some of the random shit they were selling at the back of the shop. Those dodgy video players you see there are helping fund Mr Wong's array of horrendous Channel U videos. I couldn't get pics of the porn video collection because his mum was looking at me suspiciously and it would have looked weird to start snapping away.

Dizzee Rascal is on the cover of this month's OMM. Read interview here. What's that whole sexual fetishism and Dizzee being presented as "sexual prey" in the "Sirens" video thing all about? I didn't see that at all - it's just a rich hunting the poor thing, right? Although, I guess you leave yourself open to those kind of conclusions when you unnecessarily whip out your man boobs in a music video.

My friend just called me and told me he was speaking to Skepta at the airport on the way to Israel today. He spotted him in his weird bowler hat thing that he wears when they were both in the strip search, rubber glove security area. Skepta was on his way out to perform. Can't really imagine grime being too big out there. Will try and get some pictures.

Friday

Portion of chips on my shoulder

I went and did an interview with Trim the other day in the Isle of Dogs. Good vibes. He played me most of Soulfood Vol. 2, which is sounding about three and a half times better than the first mixtape, which is a good mixtape because it's Trim and I like Trim, but isn't actually as good as I first thought, but I thought very highly of it at first, which means it is still good, but not as good as Volume 2, which is really, really great. If you know what I mean. Anyway, yeah, here is a little video of Trim and friends. The little kid is Crunch, who is 15. We had to wait for him to come out of school so he could get on the freestyle vid. Trim says he's better than Tinchy was when he was young. I think he's alright - pretty hard to tell when he's going back to back with someone as good as Trim.

Oh yeah, I went to Mr Wong's mum's shop in Peckham today. It's kind of a newsagent, but they also sell dodgy video players, LOADS of porn videos and DVDs, loads of really old CD singles, and also digital scales and bundles of little plastic bags. Weird. Picture in the next few days when my friend gets it developed.

This is a very touching tribute to the Virginia Tech victims. If his repetition of the inspirational line "Just keep your head up" doesn't have you breaking down in tears like an obese, wheelchair-ridden teenage girl after a seventeen packet Jaffa Cake binge, then you're a very cold and twisted individual. And damn that keyboard solo really got me at the end.

I don't have any more Faction G mixtapes to give out. I only had like two spare copies, so you guys can stop emailing now. Thanks. I'll see if I've got any other free stuff I can give out, but not right now.

Wednesday

Hallow Man

Ears, Flamin and Faction G were on Logan Sama's show this Monday just gone. I really am a massive fan of Ears. Like, the number one Ears fan (NO HOMO). He definitely fell off for a bit, gave up it seemed, but it looks like he's busy again. He can sound good on any beat, which pretty much no one else can do. Some notes on the rest of Wogan's show: Love that new Scorcher. Also loving the "Way Down The Road" remix. Why the fuck doesn't Esco do more tracks? Top three in grime when he's on form. Badness is the best new MC of the year. The new Doctor tune is INSANE.

Btw, I've got one or two spare copies of Faction G's latest mixtape here from a bundle he gave me before Christmas. If anyone wants one email me and I'll send it to you in a padded envelope in the post.

I've listened to about 40 Jammer instrumentals tonight - old and new. Good times. He needs to put out more instrumental 12"s. Did I mention I'm playing quite a few shows with Jam over the summer? Check here for the confirmed dates (still got loads more in the pipeline). Bye.

Sunday

Quick. So quick. Too quick, maybe.

I've added some old pics taken by myself and friends to my photo blog, you may have noticed. I found them on my old computer. I've probably used most of them on here at some point in the past, but go and have a look anyway, maybe.

You also may have noticed a little section in the sidebar over there entitled "Prancehall Lite". That's a new place where I will be adding links daily. These will be links to videos and mp3s and interesting stories and stuff. These links will not warrant a whole post, but will still be worth checking out, which means you get to see something that is potentially new to you, without having to read my smarmy little comments about it.

If that wasn't enough excitement for one post, I've also added some randomly selected interviews to the sidebar, such as an interview I did with Skream in 2005 when he was still a kid and so was I.

A quote from Skepta on the mic at FWD on Friday: "This one is ugly. Butters. Disgusting. Like a nipple. Make it beautiful, Benga. Not like Kate Moss, though - she is ugly. I take her round the back and steal her bag."

Here is a picture of Plan B. It has no relevance to anything posted here, but I just felt like putting it up. I've got a whole collection taken from this shoot. All classics.

Oh yeah, I've also made a Widget for this site, so you can easily add my blog feed to your website or MySpace (see how it looks on mine here). Click here to see how to do it.

Friday

This is why I'm cold

There is a recent(ish) interview with Young Jeezy over at Blender. It's pretty short, so I shall post it all here for everybody to read. (They're referring to the Christina Aguilera–as-coke metaphor track “White Girl”, btw).

Blender: You guys could’ve named any white girl on the single, why Christina Aguilera?
Jeezy: We’re in the hood, everybody want to holler at Christina.
Blood Raw: Everybody.
Jeezy: She’s fine as a motherfucker.

Why not Paris Hilton?

Jeezy: I can’t fuck with Paris, she be higher than me. She do shit I don’t do.

Lindsay Lohan?

Jeezy: I don’t even know who the fuck that is.

You use a lot of different metaphors to describe certain things...
Jeezy: Describe what? Be clear, baby.

Basically, are you worried about running out of white things to compare drugs to?
Jeezy: No man, I don’t think we’ll run out of anything. You don’t ever run out of being yourself. Yeah!

Your album is called Cold Summer, how cold are we talking about here?
Jeezy: As cold as it gets—you gonna need blankets and shit.
Blood Raw: Cold like the Ice Age. As soon as you walk outside your body’s gonna be caged in a block of ice.

But then how will people buy the album?
Slick Pulla: They gonna put you on a freight and slide you into the store to get your CD. Then as soon as you walk out you freeze up again and they take you home and you put the album in the CD player.

This right here is Mims performing "This Is Why I'm Hot" with some special guests on BET's Spring Bling.

I was speaking to Logan the other day about the Tinchy album - specifically the track featuring Goldielocks, called "Stereotype". I was making out like it was the worst thing ever on here (slight overreaction) and he said he loved it and I should listen to it again, and you know what, it's actually OK. I like the production. The video above shows the making of the song, so decide for yourselves. I would like to categorically state right now that I do not like the fact that Kate Nash is working with Kano, though. Kano was on Logan's show on Monday. He was sounding pretty good. Listen back here.

Twista and R Kelly - "This Is Why I'm Cold"

"This is why I'm Kells." Wow.

As I type this, JME and Skepta are at FWD. My friend just texted and told me. I was going to go tonight for the first time in about six months. Oh well. I hear you actually have to queue outside to get in these days.

Wednesday

We at the hot dog stand / She made my hot dog stand

I've got a new music column in Vice. The latest issue has been out for a while, but it won't be online for ages so I've scanned it and whacked it up. If you want to read about Collie Buddz, Trim, Joka Tha Deck, Ruka Puff (check out his man boobs here - you'll know what I'm talking about if you read the article), Gucci Mane, Lil' Boosie, A-Trak, and loads of other stuff click here.

Check out this incredible freestyle from MC Hotwheels. Shit is retarded, dawg.

The guys over at Oh Word found Cam'ron's rhyme book. I did actually find Scorcher's rhyme sheet once but I kind of lost it. I'll look for it and put it up here when I get it.

Saturday

Turn back, carry on, keep learning

That Live at the Old Blue Last TV show with Jammer performing some songs (which I talked about last year) is now online. Watch it here.

To accompany the above show, I had to write some blurb and find some links, and came across the above clash from Lord of the Mic, which I haven't seen in years. I seriously need to dig out my copy of the DVD.

Thanks to the wonders of YouTube (and the people who have enough time on their hands to upload all the old footage), you can now also watch the Top 30 reloads at Eskimo Dance. See part 2 here. It's pretty sad seeing how good grime raves used to be.

There's a five part series about Houston rap on VBS.TV. It's really good. You should watch it. Also check this quick interview with Devin The Dude. Quite funny if you like that kind of thing.

Wednesday

Can't think of a title

I got the new Wiley album today. It's great. Album of the year. Full review when I get time to listen to it properly. One question, though: Why is Jookie Mundo on there?

Have a look at the tracklist. You'll notice a few previously released tracks on there, but whatever. All hits.

JME & Skepta played at Peaches Geldof's 18th birthday party last night. My friend was DJing so I managed to blag my way in with him.

There was a circus theme, so people had to dress up. Not exactly sure what the Adenuga brothers were going for with their looks. Cameras weren't allowed inside, but JME smuggled his in and I took a few pics with it. I should have taken some random ones of Bob (who was dressed in a clown outfit) and sold them to the tabloids. Only joking. I would never do that. Promise.

New Dizzee Rascal video.

DJ Khaled ft. T.I, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Baby & Lil Wayne - "We Takin' Over"

What's up with Weezy's voice on here? What's up with Akon full stop?

Monday

I see the lights

I got the new Wiley double A-side single from Playtime Is Over today. It's grimey, nice and grimey. Will be interesting to see how it does commercially. Listen to "50/50" here.

Lethal Bizzle live at SXSW.

The post I did on Sunday April 1st (AKA April Fools' Day AKA yesterday) was a joke. The phenomenon of telling jokes on this day is nothing new. It happens every year. Some people may have heard of these joke things. They're quite popular. Especially on April Fools' Day.

Sunday

I'm what doesn't get played by Ras Kwame, see, I'm nasty

Faggatronix at 7 Year Glitch

Only got time for a quick post - have to run to the studio to finish off my mixtape. 7 Year Glitch last night was incredible. God's Gift came down to MC on my set and also brought Younger Mucky Wolfpack, who did a PA of the classic "Bow For The Wolves". It was easily the best night I've played at this year. I forgot to bring my camera but I saw loads of people taking pics, so if you've got any please email them to me.

Gift is actually really friendly in person. He told me all about the Wiley incident (full report tomorrow). On my way home I broke Crazy Titch out of prison, before stumbling across the girl Mercston raped (ALLEDGEDLY), who confessed that she made it all up.

I'm playing at the Dot To Dot festival with loads of MCs in May. Should be good. I've also been booked to do a week of dates in Ayia Napa in the summer with Jammer, Tempa T and Ears. Look out for me over there. I'll be the pasty-skinned, confused-looking guy with the Homer Simpson swimming trunks. We're then taking the QE2 on a round the world trip, taking the grime sound to every corner of the earth, before getting into a spaceship and blasting into space, never to return. Ever.
