Friday

If you're on road, you have to know this / There's man on the road making duppies every day just like Joseph

God, it's been quiet in grime recently. Is everybody on holiday in Ayia Napa or something? Wiley can be excused, because he's just had a new baby and I think we can excuse Scorcher too because his cat has just given birth to kittens. I hear he still needs homes for some of them, so if you're interested, message me and I'll pretend that I'll contact him on your behalf.

I also heard Jammer had his birthday bbq on Friday. I was gonna go, but it was my birthday too so I had to celebrate elsewhere and also I wasn't actually invited.

I got a bottle of Moet for my birthday, which I'm saving for Riko's birthday bash.

We all know that Knuckles is pretty big, but there's a new guy on the scene called Sonic The Hedgehog. Check out him trying to slew Knucks at the end of this clip.

Also, check out this deeeeeeeep freestyle from Plan B. I didn't really rate him until now - a podgy ex-RnB singer who raps about raping girls while playing acoustic guitar isn't usually my thing - but he's coming with some different bars on this freestyle.

Finally, have a little look at this amazing new video from an uknown northern grime crew. This almost beats 'Murkle Man' for concept - a guy with a Scream mask hiding in a tree in a park - who comes up with these ideas!?!?!

Sunday

Put the work in, then put the work out

Neckle Camp have an album coming out within the next few weeks. You can download a set with Neckle Camp and Matt Shadetek from a German Radio station here. I didn't really rate Gully Rainjah previously, until I heard this set.

Bear Man has just put out the video to 'Big Brown Picnic' (or whatever it's called) and not too surprisingly, it's pretty awful. Packed full of podgy 'honeyz' and with a cameo from Logan Sama, it sees the chubby warbler running around a field dressed in a Teddy Bear costume.

Can JME please make some smaller tees!? I'm not buying a large or an XL. Actually, can I have one for free? Maybe make me some 'Boy Better Know' pyjamas too.

Finally, congratulations to me. My blog has been listed in The Telegraph's Top 40 music websites.

Here is what they said:

"Intelligent and funny blog about the "urban" scene, concentrating on the inner-city energy and aggression of "grime" rappers".

Wednesday

I don't care man / I just go to the rave with bare man

I'm DJing at 333 this Friday with surprise guest MCs. The 'surprise guest' bit means I'm still not sure who's coming, but it's fine, somebody will show up. The 'surprise' bit could actually mean that when you get there, I'll be like: "SURPRISE...nobody showed up" but obviously that's not gonna happen.

Thursday

I'm on this ting like feathers on wings

I jumped in on a little studio session with Statik, Esco, Kraze and Tempa T last night. They've done an amazing track for my mixtape that VICE mag are putting out, so keep your ears peeled for that. Obviously, I can't be giving too much info away, but it's a remix of a Bugsy Malone track (true stories) and the Slew Dem guys sat down and wrote the whole thing in about half an hour. Tempz went crazy and wrote four verses, even though he only needed one.

Here's a little video of Esco laying down some bars:

I also had a chance to film some bits for my new TV series 'Prancehall TV'.

Friday

Get back, draw for the...SPRAYYYY KILLL HIMMMM

I bumped into Slew Dem crew today. Tempz, Waifa and Puffz were about and they gave me some tracks. I should have taken a pic, I know, but I forgot.

Isn't Popworld shit now? I'm not saying it was good before because Miquita was there - she just laughed at the gay one's jokes and grunted, but it's definitely not a big look for Popworld right now.

As you guys know, it's been a tiny bit quiet on here recently. Well, the reason for this is that I've been busy working on my TV series: 'Prancehall presents...' which Channel 5 have bought the rights to.

What happens is, each month I infiltrate a different scene and present a 'sideways glance' of what is going on, as well as giving all of the inside gossip.

This month, the lucky scene to be given the Prancehall treatment is Drum and Bass. Firstly, just to give you guys some background to this underground scene called Drum and Bass, let me give you a typical example of the vernacular these chaps use:

"U r fukin well boshty mate, high 5 n all that mate. U got 20p mate? U got piles mate? Pissed ur kidney out? Did ya mate?"

Anyway, enough of that, let's have a look at a snippet of an interview I did:

If that in depth analysis has left you gasping for more, then also check out this clip below:

I also decided to take a quick look at the northern grime scene this month. Below is a short documentary I made, where you can see what kind of studios and equipment the guys up there use, as well as an example of a clash.

Next month: Irish Hip-Hop
