Chamillionaire

Chamillionaire is playing The Forum in Kentish Town tonight. Roll Deep are supporting and I saw Dizzee in Old Street yesterday so he might play too. Akala is also in support I think so I'm praying he goes on before I arrive.

Prancehall Kills Brighton

I played in Brighton on Friday with Ears, Faction G and Knuckles (Tempa T was washing his hair so couldn't come). We all travelled down together, so everyone came to my office before we left. Pictured is Knuckles handling business. Ears said he wants to do work experience here but he's only going to come in one day a week and that day will be spent playing the Xbox 360 we have in the basement. Go here for live pictures, not that anyone gives a shit.

This is the video for the David Sugar & Ears single. I was speaking to Ears about why it's taken him about 10 years to get his mixtape out and he said it was because Jammer had some tracks of his and they had a big falling out and blah blah blah, oh and also his dog ate his homework, but yeah it's out very soon.

Congratulations to Statik for being voted in at number 30 on the NME cool list. I called Stats to exclusively get his view on this huge bestowment of honour. This was his response: "It's a lot."

New online Lil' Scrappy TV show, not that anyone cares, but I like it, even though it's kinda boring.

Friday

TONIGHT

I'm DJing tonight in Brighton at the Concorde 2. I'm on with Ears, Faction G and Knuckles (Tempa T can't make it) at 12. Ruff Sqwad are on some time later. Don't come.

Monday

Vice Birthday Pics

Ok, so here are some more more pics from the Vice Magazine fourth birthday party. I had a great time, here are the best moments for me.

Before I go, I gotta ask: Why does Mr Wong have so many videos on Channel U? Has he done a deal where it's like buy two, get the third free? Where is he getting the money? This one is probably his worse so far. How come none of the lyrics rhyme? Surely it's not that hard to write one that rhymes.

Here is a teaser of what the Vice birthday on Thursday was saying. Full report tomorrow.

ARE YOU DUMB

DO IT! on Friday night was fun. The only mini disaster was Ears not showing up. I'm not really bothered - I booked loads of MCs because I knew some wouldn't show - but David Sugar (who Ears was supposed to do a PA with) was there for hours waiting with his stuff set up and ready to go but couldn't play in the end.

Loads of people turned up so some couldn't get in - sorry about that. Btw, check out the guy above with the dreads getting his pout on (???) - it's a lot.

Ruff Sqwad were a bit late so some people played a game of dance around the pizza box while they were waiting for them to arrive. Getting grime MCs to turn up on time is nearly impossible. I spent the first few hours of the night on the phone giving directions and reminding the MCs when they had to turn up. Luckily Ruff Sqwad have a manager so it wasn't too much trouble getting them to the venue.

I was glad to see Dirty Danger sensibly wrapping up warm for the winter in some knitwear.

I played some old classics like "Pied Piper" and "Misty Cold" for Ruff Sqwad's set. People said afterwards that the sound was going up and down a lot during the set, but that wasn't my fault. The engineer was blaring the music out really loud through the monitors on the stage, so the MCs kept coming over and turning the voulme on the mixer down, but as soon as they did this, the engineer would shove the volume up again. One of the main things we wanted when we started the night was to get good sound, so we're probably going to have to find another venue for the next one.

Jam performed after Ruff Sqwad and played some new songs from his mixtape Are You Dumb. I've seen Jam perform a lot and this was probably the best PA I've seen from him. (Thanks to Hyperfrank for the above picture, and Emma for the rest).

As one thing begins, another ends (kind of). I've spotted that RWD magazine is for sale. I'm sure it won't shut down, but it's pretty weird that it's up for sale. Anyway, I'm gonna help them out by advertising it here too. I hope it isn't sold before Christmas because I've written to Santa Claus to see if he can leave it under my Christmas tree this year.

Tuesday

I really feel for his dog. He's gonna be long gone before Titch hits road again. On a slightly more serious note, I did a little post on the Vice blog about the case, shedding a bit of light on the reason why Titch is serving 30 years for murder.

This is my new clubnight. I was originally supposed to have Ce'Cile and Rapid Ric on this lineup, but both of their UK tours got put back, so right now I'm pretty pissed. This will still be the best night of the whole year though, so you'd be stupid to miss it. Expect some other special guest MCs too - I'm still sorting it out.

Here's some reviews I did for the Gangs & Cults issue Of Vice. There's some more of mine in there too, but whatever.

SEMTEX
Grime Wave
Antidote

5/10

Wow, a bunch of songs everybody has already heard a thousand times mixed by a DJ with one arm - not a great outlook, eh? I know people are saying this is some type of definitive grime compilation, and maybe it is, but surely they could have stuck a couple of newish ones on there. Also, it claims to be hosted by D Double E, but he barely says a word throughout the whole mix.

PRANCEHALL

E-40
My Ghetto Report Card
Reprise/Warner Bros

6/10

This is great if you're content to listen to almost a whole album of E-40 saying the same things slightly differently over and over in the exact same tone. It's like having, I dunno, Snowboard Barbie, Bobsled Barbie, Slalom Barbie, Broken Pelvis Barbie... If you like Barbie you're not gonna be disappointed. Yadaddafeelme?

SMURF TALK

RUFF SQWAD
Xtra EP
Rapid Fire

8/10

I don't think I'll ever get bored of a new Ruff Sqwad beat. These kids just keep on delivering. One thing though guys: can someone ask Fuda Guy to stop wearing his designer man bag - it's really not a big look.

DO IT!

Sorry for my lenghty absence. I've been locked inside Hattie Collins' suitcase on her recent round the world trip, unable to escape. Only joking, of course. In reality, I've been busy writing for the Vice blog and sorting out stuff for my new club night.

DJ Wonder came by the Vice office last week (or maybe the week before) to drop off a CD containing his album artwork. I don't know why most guys in grime don't just use email. They could save A LOT on petrol and could also use the time saved to take up a new hobby, such as knitting - Crazy Titch will have plenty of spare time for this kind of thing). Anyway, the album cover looks good, doesn't it?

I'm DJing in Brighton on November 24 as part of Vice Kills. I'll also be playing at all the other Vice Kills events around the UK, so it'll be like a mini Prancehall tour. Look out for that.

People are saying this is the new Roll Deep video and it kind of is but really isn't it just an Operation Trident video which Roll Deep have provided a song for? They don't even make an appearance, which is ridiculous considering the main objective of making a grime video is so you can get your face on Channel U. On a related note, you can download a song from Roll Deep's new mixtape Rules & Regulations here.

SPOTTED: Stormin' at Old Street tube station earlier this week. The scab on his face looked a lot redder than it usually does - I guess he's been picking it.
