The game's O-V-E-R / Can't get in contact, blud, ring my PR

Statik and some guy from Arctic Monkeys.

It's been quiet on here because I'm no longer a student and have got a full time job. I've got lots of stuff coming up, so once I've scraped myself off the floor, you'll know all about it. Anyway, Arctic Monkeys did a secret gig at The Old Blue Last on Thursday. I was too busy pressing Peaches Geldof in the toilets to see the band (true stories), but that's life. Statik turned up and had a little chat to the Arctics outside and was like: 'shit, if only I had a copy of the grindie mixtape I could give you", so in I came like Skippy the Kangaroo to the rescue and gave them a copy I happened to be carrying in my pants (hold tight me). I've also got a little video clip, but I'm keeping it to myself. Peaches, call me.

Go to this tonight at 93 Feet East.

Tuesday

I can see right through you like your mumsy's bamboo roll up blind

This CD was handed to my friends a few weeks back on the tube. It sounds totally different to his stuff on Jah Mek The World.

Strangle man with the microphone lead

OMG!!!!! Jammer's joined myspace!!!! Big look for the scene (not really). Whatever.

No, honestly when I found out, I was so excited I had to draw for my inhaler - nearly had an asthma attack.

Again, he's somehow forgotten to put me in his Top 8. Can people stop forgetting to put me in their Top 8 please!?!?! It's not a big look for me.

Go here if you wanna be Jammer's best friend : http://www.myspace.com/murkleman1.

The waste cadet pictured below has already taken http://www.myspace.com/murkleman

The guy's head looks like an egg that someone's drawn a face on, with some straw sellotaped on as hair. Wasteman.

Paul McCartney is divorcing his wifey. It's a shame really. She should have at least stuck it out until he died - only a few years left, surely. She'll probably get a few hundred million and a house or 3 and the dogs and stuff. He better hope she doesn't demand one of his legs too.

Friday

I've been going on deep with a p-e-n from when I was t-e-n

Wiley's album design seems to be generating more discussion that the album itself. Some funny comments over at Dot-Alt about Wiley being too embarrassed to say no to JME offering to do the artwork.

As they so rightly say though: don't judge a long awaited cd by it's cover.

Talking of 'Boy Better Know' design, I bought Tinchy's mixtape a little while back (hold tight me) and did a mini review for it here. You have to scroll down a bit to find it.

Dizzee was on the Newham Generals' Rinse FM show again last Sunday. Download the show here. Pretty good, but nothing special.

Just came across this video of Lethal Bizzle and The Rakes. I'd never heard the part of the tune where tha bizzle turns into a deranged banshee before. Also, found this video of Lethal B and (possibly) Fumin doing a live PA of 'Pow' with them both MCing along to all of the parts. I guess they thought the indie kids wouldn't notice. And they were probably right.

Also, have a look at this hilarious video I found on Hyper's blog which he claims is Danny Walker dancing to 'Pow'. I've seen Danny shocking out at Straight Outta Bethnal before and I swear he was dancing like that. Man was bussing some different moves I swear. I heard that's one of the reasons that the night got shut down - the bouncers couldn't handle his dancing anymore.

Anyway, enough of the London scene. If you wanna see how mans up north get fizzy on a real, then check out the video below (courtesy of Kam). Ang tite Ginger Joe!

Biggest video I have ever seen in my life.

No lie.

True stories.

Real Talk.

Fact.

I went along to FWD on Thursday. I Enjoyed Hatcha's set a lot more than I thought I would. The thing about 'meditating on bass weight' that people always talk about is definitely true.

Plasticman The Plastician (back to back with Geeneus) DJed for the last hour of the night and was as good as he always is - I don't know why people always say Mac 10 is the best grime DJ; Plastic is easily as good. One problem on Thursday though was the sound - Plastic and Geeneus were using Final Scratch for their set and through the Plastic People speakers, the mp3s sounded really harsh. The percussion was really piercing and just didn't sound right.

You can listen back to that set and future live sets from FWD here - just subscribe to the feed.

Read a grindie article in the Guardian here.

I bought Wiley's 'Da 2nd Phaze' earlier this week. I won't give it a full review right now since I have to review it for a few other places, but it's definitely the most essential grime release of the last few years. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the front cover is awful. The picture really lets it down - it's a really lo-fi image. If there's a re-press, they need to change that image.

Buy the album here.
